Welcome to the FWGIRLS (Foster Wheeler Gentlemen and Girls In Retirement Lucky Sods) site of the Wood plc

This site provides information on current and future events organised by the Golf Society and is primarily for the benefit of retired FW personnel who no longer have access to the Wood plc Intranet.

The Foster Wheeler Golf Society has been in existence for over 40 years and organises events open to current and retired (GIRLS) Wood plc employees, their partners and guests. Events are organised throughout the playing season from April to October, an number of which also count towards a Golfer of the Year trophy. In addition their is a singles Matchplay Knockout competition and a Christmas Event.

The events are either 18 or 36 holes and comprise individual, pairs and team competitions. All events include an evening meal, and the 36 hole events include bacon rolls on arrival and lunch too.  For the 36 hole events there is not a necessity to play 36 holes, anyone attending can play only 18.   Likewise if you can’t make the evening meal and play golf only, that can be accommodated.

There is no need to be a member of a golf club to join the society – just a golfer.  We run our own handicapping system which members play off at each event.

Whilst it is intended for retirees, access will be available to any member of the Society.
